On our game my partner Stacy did a lot and even almost every bit of the game. I done three scenes but then I lost them so I really only did one scene, because I did the loading screen after I lost the scenes. So at least I did one scene. We would probably be completely finished if I didn't loose the scenes, because she did the scenes that I had.

If I had to, I would probably grade myself a 70% because I did do a lot but I lost it. I would give Stacy a 95% because she has done almost all of the game but she also hasn't told what she's doing and she doesn't let me help

Our game is finally finished. Stacy has done most of the work but I had some scenes done but I lost them because my flash drive crapped out and everything that I had is gone even for other classes. So the only scene that I actually put on the game was the loading scene. We had to make a whole new level one. The level one looks terrible but it is as good as you can get it in a short times notice. Stacy put the scenes together so I think that we are completely finished.

I need to finish getting the collision detection to work. If I can get the hit test working I could get on with making the scenes that it would go to when you it the cars with the monster truck. I also need to get my scrolling background working; I have half of it working but one side of the background will not scroll. Stacy and I also need to send eachother our game. I have put my looping actionscript on my game to get the cars to loop from right to left. I needed the loop to work because if it didn't work it have been terrible because the point of the level is to hit every car and answer the questions so that you can crush the car. I have also changed the size of my cars and the size of my monster truck. The reason why I did that is because that when you started off the monster truck would already hit three cars and that would be a problem. Right now I'm trying to get a hit test(collision detection) with my cars so that when they hit the monstertruck it takes you to a different scene where it shows the car getting crushed if you get the question right. If I can get this actionscript working I might be done.

A good way to use time wisely is to work on something in Homeroom and then work on something different in fourth period. It is a really good idea to try and get an idea of what you are going to do this week. There are other ways to make time usefull or save time, but I only know a few. Like if you know that you can't finish it you should start on something else.

Obstacles 2-18-11

The three toughest obstacles that I have faced are the Hit Test. We have worked on the hit test codes for a long time. Also the actionscript for making things move across the screen has gave us a lot of trouble. Stacy has got her hurdles to move but I used the same code and my cars aren't moving across the screen. Another obstacle we have are getting our codes to work. They are all of the actionscript that we need to get the game working. We would have almost all of our game finished if we would have it up and going. The Hit Test in my opinion is by far the hardest actionscript to get working. I have had no luck at all with hit tests. I have tried and tried almost every code that I can find. It just isn't working. Getting things to work is the most agrivating thing about any flash game, because no matter what you do it can still mess up.

My game has lots of fun things. It has four different types of games in one. Another fun thing about our game is that there are different types of mathematics in our game, so you can do the thing that you are best at. All of the levels have a different way of playing them. I learned yesterday that I that you can make a number count down. I was just messing around on our loading screen and found it out. I really had no resources because I found it out by myself. All you have to do is go up every 12 frames and put a key frame and then just put 10, 9, 8, and on and on.

My game idea is to include racing into our game by making it a triathlon, by putting three different objectives into one game. The three objectives that we might go with are throwing a football, shooting a bow and arrow, and driving a car to the finish line. I think that it would be really fun to have different things to do in the game. That way you can play it over again and it wouldn't be so boring.

I am excited about making this game mostly because I can't wait until it turns out, because last year I made a guitar game that was like guitar hero but for the computer. I would like to find out some extra codes to see how to do this.

The Hardest Thing to Teach in Our Game

I think that the amendments and rules are the hardest to teach someone about. In my opinion, amendments are really hard to learn if you didn't know anything about them to begin with. The amendments have so many rules that make them really hard to comprehend. For an example, if someone gets suspended for wearing certain shirt to school. The shirt didn't have any nudity or inapropriate language or things that should not be at school. You would be protected by an amendment and you could take them to court.

I think that our game teaches our players about the amendments becuase in our game because they have to answer questions about the amenments. The questions have a case in front of them that you have to read. When you read it there will be a button at the top right corner of the screen that says Question. Once you have finished reading the case, you click that button and it takes you the question that you have to answer. All together, I think that our game teaches our players about the amendments in a very fun way.

I think that politcial parties lie about what are going to do, or what the other party does. They lie because they want your vote to win the election. So, what I am saying is that you can't trust most things on the internet, the Television, or even the radio. Also, you should look at who is writing the article and how they are saying things. "53,595 Infected Lawyers"

My pick for this blog is, "53,595 Infected Lawyers". I liked this game a lot, but there was no Paper Prototype, There were two Lewis and Clark videos and one of them was under the Dancing Goombas of Doom and the other under 53,595 Infected Lawyers. So, I can't compare the game to the Paper Prototype but I still loved the game becuase it is fun, it has a lot of fun things in it, mini-games and questions that will help learn the amendments.
I think that alltogether, this game is a really good game though. Good job to whoever made it and good luck to winning the contest.

The team is Muffin tanks and I think that their game is awesome. Their game name is Survival of The Smartest and their school is South Harrison HS. I like their game becuase it is really fun and it teaches you about the 2nd amendment. I don't know much about the amendments, but if I played this game, I could probably find out a lot about the 2nd amendment.
This game is really fun too. I learned from this game that even if it is a game about learning, it can still be fun.

I am typing about our paper prootype. Chuckie and I was really nervous because our teacher took the people in a different room one at a time so there would be no noise at all. The other thing is that we couldn't see what the other people were doing so that we git a hint on how to do our paper prototype. We was last becuase we kept saying that we needed more time, and it was the truth. We kept going over and over it. It finally became our turn and was really dreading this. Chuckie and I followed our teacher into the other room. We sat down at a table and got out our paper prototype. My teacher went over everything with us and then we were ready, we weren't nervous any more, we were anxious. Chuckie all of the talking and I did all of the paper turning and clicking. Together, I think that we make a good team.

The Average American

I think that the average american does NOT understand the Ideals in the government. I think that it matters becuase if someone doesn't know about the ideas and how they are applied, the news might say what kind of new ideas that the government has and the average guy would not know what the news was saying. Therfore, he wouldn't understand what was happening if something like a power outage happened. He would probably hook up a wired phone and call the news or something, then he would feel real goofy.
What I am trying to say is that I think that the average American doesn't understand the US government ideas and how the are applied, so I think that when people explain things on the news that they need to simplify it.

I think that we did pretty good on our game presentations and they gave us some really good ideas on how we could make our game better. I feel that Chuckie and I done a really good job on our presentation. I learned that we need to take our expectations down in our game. After we told them what we wanted to do in our game and what our general idea was, they thought that it was going to be a great game. Then, they said that it would really be a lot of work, and that we would most likely not get it done in time for our FULL game presentation. So, we improvised, we said that we would just take some things off. They said that would be a good idea. We are going to make our game play like Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution. It will little cut-scenes during the story mode that there will be a cop trying to arrest you because he thinks that you stole a guitar. The first time that he finds you is when you are practicing in your house and knocks on the door and says, "Open up! It's the police!" You can say, "Come on in I have nothing to hide." Or you can say, "Do you have a warrant to come in my house?" I am not to tell what the correct answer will be though, but the correct one will start another series of questions.

I researched all of the amendments that we could be able use in our game. I looked up the amendments on Google.com. I looked for all 27 amendments that would be helpful for our game, like the 4th amendment that simply states that no one is allowed to search you unless they have the warrant to. That could be helpful to the innocent, because it can help them not get took to jail by a police officer that thinks that they are guilty of some kind of crime that they did not commit.

I found out that there are a lot of amendments can help a lot of people that can not pay for a lawyer. Like I stated before, an example is the 4th amendment, There are a lot of men and women that do not know about the 4th amendment might be in jail right now and they could not pay for a lawyer so they had no defence to protect him from going to jail. But if they had knew about the 4th amendment, I bet that some of those innocent people would not in jail. They might of had something illegal in their house but the officer that searched them were not authorized to search their house. So the officer had no business in that person's house without a warrant.

American History:The Vietnam War

I am writing about the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War lasted from 1945-1975. There were a lot of Americans kiled and injured in that war.
In the year 1954, Vietnam was split into two separate parts: the communist north and the democratic south. Thereafter, a series of events took place that led up to a full-fledged war between these two countries and the war did not only include the Vietnamese, it also included the Americans, Australians and a few other nations.
The Americans and other nations supported the largely unpopular southern democrats, and although initially they meant to keep their involvement very limited, they ended up sending millions and millions of soldiers to Vietnam to prevent communism from spreading. Years and years of bitter guerrilla struggle in the typhoid ridden villages and rugged jungles of Vietnam eventually led to the victory of the North Vietnamese and the reunification of the country. Millions of soldiers, Vietnamese and Americans alike died in the struggle, and till today the country struggles to reinstate itself after the staggering damages made to its land, economy and people.

What I have finished in Globaloria

I have finished Adding Navigation, Adding Animation, and Adding Sound. I have made a bunch of little animation and things with sounds in it. I have made just little Flash movies though, not anything big for our game. I have just been trying to get the feel of working with animation and sound.
I have made a store scene where you can buy extra things for your character or to get extra points to get more money. I have made it to where you can pick guitars, band members, point modifiers, suits, and amps.

1. I have learned that you can get any picture and trace it with Flash. I have also learned that there is a lot more to Flash than just typing stuff, it is hard work to keep up with all of the things you have to do. You have to take the time to finish everything you do or it will look wrong.

2. The thing that is easiest to me is when you import a picture to the stage and trace over it. The hardest thing for me to do is when you have to remember all of the codes to put something on the screen. The way that I over came the challenges was that I asked my partner Chuckie, but if he couldn't help me I would ask Mrs. I. Barker for help.

3. We have looked up a lot of things about our civics. Inlcuding the amendments, patriotic songs, and even cases that involved with the Supreme Court.

What I have done in Drawing in Flash. I have already learned how to trace over pictures and make them look cartoonish. I have already traced two of the characters for our game. One of them is a girl, and one of them is a boy. I am still looking for a second boy though. I also think that I need to find two more girls, but I think that with the help of my team-mate Chuckie Rowe, I can get this finished in no time. We don't have much left to do to get finished drawing our characters.

Gas prices are rising and oil prices are falling

I think that the country should make the gas prices either stay the same, or make them fall at least 20 cents. The oil prices are falling, but the gas prices are getting to be in the $3.00 again. We need to make the gas not so much. That way you can people that doesn't have the money to waste on gas, can afford to get gas. In my opinion, you would get more money for gas if you make the gas price fall. Facts show that more people buy gas from lower priced gas-stations. If there is a lower priced gas-station beside a higher priced gas-station, the lower priced gas-station would get more money because there would be more people to go to that gas-station. So, you see, if you make the gas prices fall. The United States could get more money, while also letting the civilions save money. If you think about it, oil prices and gas prices rise when a hurricane and tornado hits. I think it is because the people think that the hurricane/tornado would tear down the oil or gas plantations.

Our team has researched a lot of things for our paper prototype and game. We have researched the amendments, the songs, and the pictures. It took a long time to research the amendments. There were no sites that I could find that had the first 10 amendments, but I finally found one and it had all of the 25 amendments. The songs were hard to look for, especially because they had to be about the constitituion. The pictures weren't that hard to find, but they were a lot of them to pop up so Chuckie had to look through all of them to find the right one. I learned a lot about the amendments while I had to research them. I had to read about them and when I did I learnt a lot about them.

I have learned that paper prototyping is harder than it looks. It was really hard when we started to right things down but then after we started getting stuff pop into our heads about things that we could do, it was pretty easy after that. I have learned that paper prototypes are something that you need.

About my game

1. Our game topic is called Rock 4 The Constitution. It relates to civics in these ways. During the story mode, there is a spot in the game where there is a cop trying to break down your door to get in your apartment room. He says "open up! it is the police!" and you say "Why?" and he says " um....I don't have a reason" then you say " Then you can't came in because the 4th amendment says that you can't!" then he says " You haven't seen the last of me!". Also, every song you complete, you get these things called the amendment parts. The amendment parts are something you collect to beat the game. There are 10 amendment parts. Everytime you complete a song with a good score, you 1 amendment part. Every amendment part you unlock an amendment, the amendments you unlock are the 1st 10 amendments. There is a amendments button on the title screen to see the amendments you have unlocked. After you get all 10 amendments, you win the game.

2. I think that the players would learn alot about civics while playing this game. I think that this game will be addicting to all players of age. If you keep playing the game, the more you learn and the more you have fun. Our game is about the 1st 10 amendments of the constitution. This game will teach you the amendments While your playing the game. That way, you are finding out what the amendments are.

3. It fits in with the amendments because, it tells about the 1st 10 amendments. It could be on one of the amendment pages with a link that said amendment game. Yes, it does teach about citizenship. It teaches the citizens about their rights and responsibilties. I think that our game would match the citizen part.

Freedom of Speech

I think that freedom of speech means that you can speek what you want, as long as it isn't like a threat or something like that. Freedom of speech is something that you should take care of, beacause you can lose your freedom of speech if you do a lot of stuff wrong.
There is some restrictions thatI can not do at school or bring to school because it is against the rules. Like, video games, toy guns, or even mp3's or Ipod's. There is a lot that you can't do at school, but just remember that the reason of that is for your own health and education.
If Mr. Campbell forbid me to wear my favorite shirt to school, he can not do that unless it is innapropriate or has nudity or cursing on it. I can still wear it if it doesn't have one of those on it. But if it is like a band t-shirt or a football team, he can't tell me that I can not wear it to school or suspend me or give me detention or none of that stuff.
If your locker was searched, it would depend on what the reason was. If it was just a regular locker search for no reason, you might be able refuse it for your own privacy. But if the people had a good reason like people saying that you had a gun or gun bullets in your locker, then you could probably not have the right to be able to refuse it.

About our game "Rock For The Constitution"

I think that our game should be really fun for everybody. We are going to try to make three different levels. The levels that we are trying to make are normal, hard, and expert. The game is about the 27 amendments. We are trying to to get 27 songs to go with the amendments. If you get a really good score, you will get money called constitution points. The more amendment points you get, the more things that you can unlock and buy. We are going to try to make it be able to buy outfits, point modifiers, guitars, band members, amps, and even new characters.
I hope to teach kids about the amendments while also having lots of fun playing a game. I think that even teenagers, maybe even 20+ adults will like this game because it is fun and it teaches you something at the same time.
Chuckie will be the music expert, artist, and group manager. I will be the researcher, action scripter, and game assembler.

It has been tough, but also at the same time it is really fun too.

I think that the most fascinating thing in Globaloria so ar is when we got to make a minigame project. We made a carrot go whatever speed we wanted it to go and we also made it keep restarting rom the beginning everytime it got to the end.

I think that the thing that we have learned that no other class offers is how to use Adobe Flash Player.

I have thought about what kind of game I would like to make by looking at the otther games that people make.

I have played a lot of games, but my favorites are Dufar is Dying, Stop Disasters, and SUPER TOASTER!!!!! (defenitely SUPER TOASTER)

I have learnt that some games can be fun AND you can also learn things at the same time.

You need to know that you shouldn't go to websites that are bad, neither should you go to new websites that hardly anybody gets on, those kind of websites might have viruses. You should only go to websites that you absolutely know that they are good websites.

At school you are really safe with websites like that, because teachers and principals block websites that might have viruses or have nudity in them. At home, it all depends how you act on the internet. If you go to bad websites you are usualy not safe.

It is safe if you want it to be, but it can also get you into a trouble too.

You would have to be able to talk in front of people and also make your speech reasonable for other people to accept the rule.

If you do not follow the rules during your speech or the suggestions that you say you might have your freedom of expression took away.

I would make the rules reasonable with everybody in the school. I would buy some posters for everybody in the school to sign about what they would like to be able to wear and what not to be able to wear.

You could say something bad to a teacher or the principal, smoke on school property or do something really bad like that. You would be breaking student code of conduct rules.

You would probably have something took away from you if your freedom of expression was offending others. You might even get your freedom of expression took away. It depends on how bad it affends someone, how many people it offends, and who it offends.

I hope to learn how to make Flash games. I would like to make a game that you could choose to control three different characters. The characters would be a garbage man, with the ability to clean faster. The doctor, with the ability to regain stamina faster, and last, a fireman, with the ability to mave faster. I am excited about how I will be able to make Flash video games, but I am scared about how hard and how much work it is going to be to make a Flash game.
